## Post-match interview transcript

Discord thread: 🎀 Post-Match Interview: RyGuy

WTSL: RyGuy β€” what did you focus on today to get the win?

RyGuy: Just staying focused, got a bit lucky in the first set, opponent had lots of break points, I grew into the match and served really well and that was the difference for me

WTSL: How did that affect the rest of the match?

RyGuy: My serve was really strong, and eventually I was able to break him

WTSL: What adjustment on return games helped you finally convert the break?

RyGuy: Playing with my return positioning, and picking up on patterns

WTSL: Nice β€” that sounds like it worked. What exactly did you spot that told you where to stand and when to attack on those points?

RyGuy: Well on second serves I was standing on the service line and it was not working at all, moved back a couple steps and started having a bit more success

WTSL: When you stepped back, what did it let you do differently on those returnsβ€”change timing, placement, or read the serve better?

RyGuy: He was serving with a lot of top spin, helped me hit the ball at a better height when I moves back in the court

WTSL: Good adjustment. After that change, did you start aiming your returns at a specific target?

RyGuy: Tried to keep it unpredictable, but normally crosscourt when the serve was out wide and down the line when the serve was down the tee

WTSL: What were you trying to create with those down-the-line returns β€” a chance to step in, or a short ball to attack?

RyGuy: The latter

WTSL: What will you take away from that part of the match?

RyGuy: Just to keep at it, since the update to return animations, returning has become much more difficult, and requires much more focus and quick reflexes. Sometimes I find it very difficult early in a match, but once I can pick up on patterns from my opponent, I'm able to read serves better and grow into the match

WTSL: Appreciate the insight β€” staying patient and sharpening those reflexes is a smart approach; thanks for your time. πŸ†
