## Post-match interview transcript
Discord thread: π€ Post-Final Interview: DANI21 π© aka Halapeno
WTSL: You won the Beijing final β whatβs your take on the match?
DANI21 π© aka Halapeno: Well, it was a very aggressive performance from the both of us. Rallies were rather short and involved super heavy hitting. My backhand was an absolute disaster i think i had 9 winners 29 unforced, whereas for him his forehand let him down a lot in the big moments. Also i got saved by my serve big time, those 9 aces came in crucial moments (i think i even hit one down 30-40 at 4-3). Generally just huge hitting all round
WTSL: What tactical adjustments did you make mid-match to change the pattern of play?
DANI21 π© aka Halapeno: Not many adjustments to be honest . I was trying so hard to hide my backhand from rallies so i was hammering all the balls i could no matter the risk, especially on the backhand side. I also tried to serve to his forehand in the tightest moments and it worked out big time.
WTSL: How did you deal mentally with the increased unforced errors while sticking to that highβrisk plan?
DANI21 π© aka Halapeno: I knew it was my only chance. If i tried to play a bit more passive he would obliterate me because his character is faster (tsonga is a heavy hitter). Therefore i knew i had absolutely no chance but to blast it and pray.
WTSL: π AI-generated audio.
WTSL: How did you feel once that moment had passed?
DANI21 π© aka Halapeno: What moment ? I don't really understand the question?
WTSL: After those tense, highβrisk points you described, how did you reset mentally between games?
DANI21 π© aka Halapeno: I wasn't resetting mentally. It was full on intensity from the first point to the last. I knew i had to play like a crazy man so that's what i did. I am happy it worked out for this match but i am sure next match he'll get his revenge
WTSL: If you kept that fullβon intensity from start to finish, how did you manage physically β did fatigue ever threaten your game late on?
DANI21 π© aka Halapeno: Fatigue? What fatigue? What is that xDDD!
Yeah i did have some lulls it's impossible to keep the same level of intensity. For example at 3-1 in the second for me i had a very slight intensity drop off and he immediately punished me for it big time. In the third i knew i could not repeat the same mistake yet again so i tried as hard as possible, especially since after breaking him i had to save break points at both 4-3 and 5-4 serving for the match. It was not easy at all but i had some patterns i could rely on in big moments and they worked out.
When you have those set patterns that you know you can pull off with your eyes closed, that's when it becomes easier to play the big points.
WTSL: What did you physically do differently on those big points?
DANI21 π© aka Halapeno: Served to his forehand mainly. Played a lot of inside out forehands and then on the short return attacked his forehand. Of course it depends on the character the opponent is playing but since sinner is not that fast i could afford to go big and try to win the point in 1-2 shots
WTSL: How did that affect the rest of the match?
DANI21 π© aka Halapeno: What rest of the match? What i described happened at the end of the match, the final few games.
WTSL: That's a good place to wrap up β thanks for your time. π
DANI21 π© aka Halapeno: Thank you bot. See you
